Have you ever heard a sermon on hemorrhoids? Or,

how's your emerods doing????

Never have I ever, in all of my years walking with Christ ever heard a pastor, teacher, prophet, evangelist or a minister mention hemorrhoids in their sermons.  I have my wonderful hubby to thank for this post today.  He ordered a book "God Shock" or something like that for the title.  I cannot tell you who wrote it or if that is the correct title, but he read a short blip from the book to me and yes, the Bible talks about hemorrhoids.  I ran to find my Bible and look it up and right there it was, in plain black lettering ink on the white page.

If you turn to 1 Samuels 6 and start reading you will find the Phillistines had the Ark of the Covenant.  They had had the Ark long enough that they were having issues and they wanted to get rid of their issue.  The priests gave them specific insturctions for dealing with sending the Ark away from their presence and they needed to do to receive their healing.

As I read this passage, I laughed and laughed.  I just got a glimpse of God's humor.  Now some will say, that's not what that word means, but if you look it up and consider the context of the first few verses I believe it is exactly what it means, i.e. emerods = hemorrhoids.  The other meaning totally does not fit what is being talked about in the opening of the sixth chapter of 1 Samuel.  They had to make an image of their 'emerods' and send it along with some other things in the Ark.  This brought a whole new meaning to xerox copying your rear-end on the copier at work moment.  Okay, I'm taking captive those thoughts, saying Thank You to the Lord for the best chuckle I have had in a while all while thinking about all the different ways they may have attempted this task of 'making an image of their emerods.'

"Hey, my friend, could you look at my rear end and draw a picture of it?"  'Uh, NO!'

So there you have it, the Bible does talk about hemorrhoids.  I almost felt sorry for the Phillistines, almost...Don't mess with God and don't mess with His Ark.
