So it's been awhile, and I've been in a strange journey of life...
As you get older, you see things that you just never saw before. I don't know if this comes because you really have been around the Earth so many times now that you just start seeing it or there is a mindset and all of a sudden, the light bulb goes on...LOL!!! Yeah, might be more like the light bulb burned out! Ewwww, watch what I'm confessing, self! It's things like, expectations. Things that you always expected to be there, lasting through out eternity. Yeah, a real wake up call as you age! People and places disappear, there goes another one...I'm very glad for the ones still on my journey with me as another year passes and requirements fall into place: You shall report to SSA, thus saith the government; Or not, but you'll pay a penalty if you still don't report in. Kind of reminds me of some secular songs. As a Christian, I made a vow to stop listening to music from the world to listen to songs only about Jesus. Now, I find that a lot of those secular songs were very prophetic and the world's music has made it to the Christian arena. As I sat here pondering, what happened and why am I feeling like I am feeling, I began to see places in my life that were supposed to happen, that didn't, and I think "hmmm, maybe that's why I still feel young inside." It's a good thing until it's not. But it had me drawing back to 'old school', "old music", "old songs" which led to "old places." So in one of the videos I'm sitting and thinking, "Hmmm, that looks like the inside of ...." a church that is no longer there. A feeling of great loss swept over me and another 'what happened' moment of a building that should have lasted for decades and I don't think it lasted one generation. I mentioned it to my hubby later on that day and he made a comment about how many things lasted only a short while when you expected them to last for, well....forever. That brought it home. The expectations you have. Let me warn you, nothing lasts forever, except - Only one thing lasts forever and that is Jesus. Revelation speaks to this ... and on His thigh is written "The Word of God." I saw, felt, and heard all at the same time, my expectations. That's exactly what they were, my expectations, and that will get you nothing my friend. Jesus is the only thing that last - His Word for forever, ringing throughout eternity. When I stand before God to give an account for my life, I want to be like Abraham. I want to be known as a friend of God. I want Him to know me and I know Him, best buds, Jesus and me. It took the pain of loss away. A place in a music video that now both the singer and the place are gone. One in Heaven with Jesus, the other torn down to the ground, demolished to make way for something else. It seems like the Kingdom of God took another hit, but I'm trusting in God all the way when He tells me to hold on. He never fails. He never gives up, and by His strength we can too. Hold on. There is a new name written down in Heaven, an Overcomer. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I can look forward with new expectations to see how God is going to work this out. There is one thing I do know. Jesus reigns forever more as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He'll raise ten more churches where the one was taken down. I can shout, sing, and dance knowing His Word stands the test of time. His Words never fade, and the blood that was shed on Calvary still has the power, and with His permission to use His Name, Jesus, I can stand against all the forces of evil. Resist the devil and he MUST FLEE!!! God is calling. How will you answer?
